Aircraft veers off Nairobi runway

A Fokker 50 aircraft has veered off a Nairobi runway during take-off, leaving 2 passengers with injuries.

 

The Fokker 50 aircraft with registration 5Y-IZO was being operated by Silverstone Air Services, departing Nairobi, Kenya to Mombasa Kenya when the aircraft veered off the runway during take off.

 

The Silverstone Air Services flight came to rest on rough ground, in a patch of bushes, suffering substantial damage around 9am,

 

Investigation Launched

 

An investigation has been launched by The Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID), which will examine the incident with a fine tooth comb and report its findings in due course.

 

The aircraft “veered off the runway” during take-off. It came to rest on rough ground, in a patch of bushes, suffering substantial damage. Kenya Airports Authority reported.

 

Nairobi airport Meteorological reports good visibility and no adverse weather conditions at the time of the incident.
